As summer wraps up I’m looking for excuses to use my fresh herbs while they’re still fresh! Luckily for me the dahlia’s in this arrangement lasted longer than the lemon balm I’d previously had in the vase. (See my previous post here.) “Excellent!” I thought. “No time like the present to try something new.”
One of the many benefits of creating simple floral arrangements with herbs is the ability to freshen them quickly, painlessly, and frequently. I easily swapped out the citrus scented lemon balm for the spicy fragrant notes of purple ruffled basil. I also decided to replace the Russian sage and added a few different smaller, pink dahlia. I then refilled the vase with lukewarm water. The whole process took less than 10 minutes.
